We had a wonderful time at our cute little apartment not far off Magazine. We are NOLA lovers and go very often. This was a lovely experience. The location was fantastic, the neighborhood was quiet, safe and full of beautiful old homes. We know the area well so I was psyched to see how close it was to our favorite haunts. The place itself was clean, well stocked with everything we needed and beautifully decorated. I love when owners decorate to reflect the culture of the area. It was a great space for a couple, perfect size! We will definitely be back!
The pictures don't do this place justice. There are also so many of the comforts of home, and while I never met Christina, she was very professional, responding to questions quickly, and a pleasure to deal with. I was in NOLA for the fabulous French Quarter festival, and she even accommodated a request to borrow a chair, with suggesting I buy 2, and she picked up the cost. The only reasons I didn't give the place 5 stars, are that I thought it needed a breakfast table, not just the coffee table by the beautiful leather couch, or the one in the bedroom, that seemed like an artful work space (I used both at different times, but was concerned about keeping them spotlessly clean), and had some difficulty adjusting the temperature on the remote for the AC, which needs to work flawlessly, because the controls on the unit itself are high up, and out of reach. There are decorative masks, what I'd call voodoo wallpaper, and strings of different colored beads that reminded me of NOLA at every turn. The charm and character of Christina's place are spectacular. The convenience of the location in the Garden District, just a couple of blocks from the charming St. Charles Avenue streetcar, or 3 blocks from the Magazine Street bus, shopping, and fabulous restaurants in either direction are exceptional. Part of the NOLA experience for me is the rich, cholesterol laden cuisine, and for fabulous high end dining and cocktails, don't miss LILLETTE, ATCHAFALAYA, or COQUETTE, and if you like fried chicken, world famous WILLIE MAE'S is as delicious and down home as it gets. Good, huge breakfasts at the TROLLEY STOP CAFE just 2 blocks away on St. Charles.
Great location, felt like a local
Growing up in a tourist town, I like to feel more 'traveler' than 'tourist' when I visit places, and I immediately felt like a resident in this great little place. We turned the corner from parking and were passing people walking dogs, couples out jogging, people passing by bringing food home. Inside, the place is clean and inviting. Walls are painted a soothing neutral color, with a splash of color on the far wall. A few Mardi Gras masks hang from the wall. Glass coffee table held the requisite books, all of which were informative, including a walking tours guide of the city. The place is uncluttered and relaxing. The bed is wonderful. A couple nice touches, like high thread count towels, folded artfully on the bed, and even something simple like a little dish by the front door to put keys and sunglasses in - things I am always looking for - was very appreciated. The television is one of those new Roku TV's and while we didn't really bother with it - we were in New Orleans, man! - it was quality. The little kitchen has fridge, stove, sink, etc. Everything you'd need. And a Keurig coffee maker on the counter with, what else, Community coffee in the cupboard made a very welcoming additiion. So we loved the place, we loved the locale, we loved the nearby shops and restaurants. Two blocks to the St Charles Streetcar. Bingo! We loved it.
Clean, comfortable apartment
Overall, the apartment was very clean and comfortable. There was plenty of closet space for both my girlfriend and I in our 1 week stay. The bathroom was also kept very clean. The bed was comfortable and the fan right above it was great during the warmer nights (not too loud at all). There is an AC unit in the apartment that was also awesome to have. The apartment is within walking distance of a few great brunch places as well as the plethora of restaurants on magazine street. Which is a pleasant reprieve from the crowds of the quarter.
Great host, apartment, city!
Christina is a great host and her apartment is so pretty and tastefully remodeled. The neighborhood is wonderful to walk around in with Magazine street in one direction and catching the nearby St. Charles streetcar in other. That made it very easy to get downtown or over to the French Quarter super cheap. Overall, great host, great apartment, great city.
Great location, super cute apartment with all of the amenities. Comfortable bed, clean and quiet setting.
really enjoyed it
We really enjoyed staying at Christina's place in the very nice Neighborhood. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. Christina is a great supportive host.
What a fantastic stay in New Orleans and this house! We were so comfortable - the bed is great, I loved the couch and chair, having a full kitchen was wonderful, the closet was a perfect place to hang clothes and put our luggage, and parking off-street was perfect for us as we are traveling cross-country and have lots of stuff in the car. We pulled down the driveway and parked with NO problem at all and our vehicle is medium size (Ford Ranger small pick-up). Remember to park near the garage and be respectful of the other tenant that parks in the back. Having the streetcar so close was perfect - download the app, purchase the all-day ticket online ($3.00), and show that screen to the streetcar driver. The ticket lasts for 24 hours from the time you initiate the fair, but you can hold it in your app for 14 days (so, you can do all the crunch work of downloading the app and purchasing the ticket before you arrive - just down start the ticket countdown until you're ready to ride the street car). This little apartment is in the perfect location. There were a few postcards on the desk with stamps, so it was easy to write and send (something I rarely get to do, so also terrific). All around one of my best AirBnB experiences!
